The Amino acid Glutamine can help build cellular material and support the healing process. The role of Glutamine in the healing of Radiation Therapy-induced skin inflammation (Called Radiation Dermatitis) and Esophageal inflammation (called Radiation Esophagitis) was studied recently.
The topic of today’s article is Glutamine and Healing of Esophagitis and Skin Inflammation.
Gul et al 2020, published research on the role of the amino acid L Glutamine in the healing of Radiation Therapy Induced Dermatitis and Esophagitis that was published in the Journal of Original Investigation. They studied 56 women with Breast Cancer who were referred for Radiation Therapy 28 women were given L Glutamine 30 GM daily during the Radiation Therapy Course, and 28 were not given Glutamine.
At the end of the study, it was found that the group of women who received the L Glutamine had fewer side effects in terms of skin inflammation and Esophagitis.
